Johnny Gunn

Author, Johnny Gunn

Johnny Gunn the pseudonym of a retired journalist. He says, “I ditched college after the first year by being hired by a radio station as a full time reporter, and the merry-go-round never stopped. I can’t say I miss the day-to-day newsroom chaos, but I love allowing my characters to do their thing, not have to report someone else’s thing.” During his fifty-year career, he published and edited The Nevada Observer.com, an internet news magazine; The Virginia City Legend, a weekly newspaper; and The Rhythm of Reno, a monthly entertainment magazine.  Also he was senior editor at AdNews, serving the advertising gurus, marketing mavens, and other creative souls in Nevada.

The Starr Baby Case
A Simon Sol Dorsey Mystery

by Johnny Gunn,

$4.99 ebook, $14.95 paperback

Sol Dorsey would best be described as a throwback to the twenties or thirties. The big man grew up on pulp crime magazines, thought once about being a cop but changed his mind as soon as he heard about things like Miranda and perp’s rights. “They got no rights. Bang a head, get an answer,” was a continuing philosophy, which only became an issue when he found himself working for the cops. But when he got a message on his new digital answering machine that said, “I’m in trouble, Sol. I got nowhere else to turn” he knew he had to do something about it. After all, he was one of the best PIs on the west coast, hired by some police agencies to help with high profile crimes, disdained by others, well, because he was Simon Sol Dorsey.
